Possible Causes

Failed dryer heater element, Open thermal cut-out (TCO) or thermostat, Blocked dryer air duct, Faulty dryer relay on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool fully before working on the dryer section.

  • Check basic airflow: Ensure the lint filter (if accessible) is clean. On many Bush washer-dryers, lint accumulates in internal ducts rather than a removable filter.
  • Inspect rear ducting: Remove the rear panel and locate the dryer heater housing and ducts. Check for heavy lint build-up restricting airflow and carefully vacuum or brush it out.
  • Check thermostats: On the heater housing, locate the thermal cut-outs/thermostats. Ensure their connectors are secure. Some TCOs are resettable with a small button; if present, press gently to reset.
  • Heater continuity (if you have a meter): Test the dryer heater element for continuity. An open circuit indicates a failed heater that must be replaced.
  • Replace components: If the heater or TCO is faulty, replace with Bush-compatible dryer heater and thermostats. If all components test good but E09 persists, the control PCB or dryer relay may be defective and require professional service.
