Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump, Faulty drain pump motor, Jammed drum due to foreign object, Motor overload condition
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains and be prepared for water spillage when opening the pump filter.
- Clean pump filter: Open the lower access flap, unscrew the pump filter, and remove any debris. Check that the impeller can turn freely.
- Check drum for obstructions: Rotate the drum by hand. If it is stiff or scraping, inspect between the drum and door seal for trapped items (e.g. bra wires, coins).
- Inspect drain hose and standpipe: Ensure the drain hose is not blocked or inserted too far into the standpipe, which can cause siphoning issues.
- Test spin: After reassembly, run a spin-only program. If E21 persists and the pump is silent or just hums, the pump motor is likely faulty and should be replaced with a Bush-compatible drain pump.
