Possible Causes
Defective door interlock switch, Broken or loose wiring between door lock and main PCB, Faulty main control board (Caple washer-dryer PCB), Misaligned door latch hook
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Caple washer-dryer combo from the mains before removing any panels. Do not bypass the door lock for testing while the machine is powered.
- Step 1 – Power reset: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then reconnect and try to start a short wash. Sometimes E01 is a transient logic error.
- Step 2 – Check door closure: Ensure the door is fully closed and the latch engages with a solid click. Inspect the door hook for cracks or looseness. Tighten mounting screws if the door is sagging.
- Step 3 – Inspect door seal and latch area: Look for clothing or debris trapped between the door and gasket preventing full closure. Remove any obstruction and retry.
- Step 4 – Test door interlock: With power unplugged, remove the front retaining band of the door gasket and gently pull back the seal to access the door lock assembly. Check the wiring connector for burning, corrosion, or loose pins. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Step 5 – Electrical test (for competent persons): Using a multimeter, test continuity of the door interlock terminals according to the wiring diagram (usually found behind the rear panel or in the user manual). If the lock does not change state when the door is closed, it is faulty.
- Step 6 – Replace door lock: If the interlock is defective, remove the mounting screws, disconnect the harness, and install a new Caple-compatible door lock assembly. Refit the gasket and retaining band carefully to avoid leaks.
- Step 7 – If E01 persists: The fault may be on the main control board (relay or triac driving the lock). At this point, contact a qualified Caple service technician for PCB diagnosis and replacement.
