How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately stop the cycle, unplug the unit, and do not continue using it until the source is identified. Fire risk is present.
Steps to investigate:
- Check lint and heater: Remove rear panel and inspect the heater housing and surrounding areas for lint accumulation. Clean thoroughly.
- Inspect belt and pulleys: Look for a melted or frayed drive belt. Replace if damaged and ensure pulleys turn freely.
- Motor inspection: Smell near the drive motor. If the odor is strongest there and the motor is extremely hot, it may be failing and should be replaced.
