Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working around the door lock area. Avoid forcing the door closed.
Steps to resolve:
- Check door closure: Ensure no clothing is trapped between the door gasket and the door. Firmly close the door until you hear a solid click.
- Inspect door latch and strike: Examine the metal or plastic strike on the door and the latch opening on the front panel. Look for bending, cracks, or misalignment. Gently adjust the strike if it is not centered in the latch opening.
- Clean the latch area: Wipe away detergent residue or lint from the door lock opening and the strike, which can prevent full engagement.
- Access door lock assembly: Remove the front door gasket clamp and pull back the gasket to expose the door lock assembly. Remove mounting screws and gently pull the lock forward.
- Check wiring: Inspect the wiring harness to the lock for loose connectors or damaged wires. Reseat the connector until it locks in place.
- Test and replace: If the lock shows signs of burning, cracking, or if 1L persists, replace the door lock assembly. Install the new lock, secure screws, reconnect wiring, and refit the gasket and clamp.
If the error remains after replacing the door lock, the main control board may not be sending or reading the lock signal correctly and may require professional service.
