Unit powers on but controls are unresponsive or erratic; 1U appears on the display.

Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing the control panel or top cover.

Steps to troubleshoot:

• Power cycle: Disconnect power for 5 minutes to fully discharge the control. Restore power and test the controls again.
• Check for moisture: Inspect the control panel area for signs of moisture or detergent spills. Dry the surface thoroughly and allow time for internal moisture to evaporate.
• Access control area: Remove the top panel and, if needed, the console screws to access the user interface board and main control board.
• Inspect harness connections: Locate the ribbon cable or harness connecting the UI to the main board. Reseat both ends, ensuring they are fully inserted and latched.
• Look for damage: Check for burnt spots, corrosion, or cracked solder joints on the UI board. If present, the UI should be replaced.
• Replace UI if needed: Transfer any overlay or knobs to the new user interface control board, reconnect harnesses, and reassemble the console.

If 1U persists after UI replacement and harness checks, the main control board may be defective and should be evaluated by a technician.
