Dryer overheats or shuts down with 2H error; clothes may feel excessively hot.

Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely. Overheating components can cause burns.

Steps to correct:

• Clean lint filter: Remove and thoroughly clean the lint filter. Wash with warm water and mild detergent if coated with fabric softener residue, then dry completely.
• Inspect exhaust path: For vented models, disconnect the exhaust hose from the back of the unit and check for lint buildup or crushed sections. Clean or replace the hose as needed.
• Internal lint cleaning: Remove rear or front panels to access internal ducts. Vacuum lint from the heater housing, blower housing, and internal vent passages.
• Locate high-limit thermostat: Find the high-limit thermostat mounted on the heater housing or duct. Inspect for discoloration or damage.
• Test thermostat: With power disconnected, check continuity across the thermostat terminals. A high-limit that is permanently open (no continuity) must be replaced.
• Replace thermostat if faulty: Install a new high-limit thermostat, transferring wires one at a time. Ensure it is mounted firmly against the metal surface for proper sensing.

If 2H recurs after cleaning and thermostat replacement, the heater relay on the main control board may be sticking and should be checked by a technician.
