Possible Causes
Clogged drain pump filter, Obstructed drain hose, Weak or failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and prepare for water spillage. Use towels and a shallow pan.
Steps to clear:
- Manual draining: If the drum is full, bail out water into a bucket to reduce spillage.
- Access pump/filter: Remove the lower front or rear panel to reach the drain pump filter (if equipped). Slowly open the filter cap and drain remaining water.
- Clean filter and pump: Remove lint, coins, and debris from the filter and pump cavity. Check that the impeller spins freely.
- Check drain hose: Inspect the external drain hose for kinks or clogs. Detach from the standpipe and flush with water if needed.
- Test drain: Reassemble and run a drain & spin cycle. If 4F returns and water drains slowly or not at all, replace the drain pump assembly.
Ensure the household standpipe or sink drain is not blocked, as this can also cause drain errors.
