How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing the motor or control boards.
- Inspect motor harness: Remove the rear panel and check the wiring harness from the motor to the control board. Reseat connectors.
- Check tach sensor: On many GE motors, the tach sensor is integrated. Inspect for physical damage or loose mounting.
- Test sensor output: Following the service manual, spin the motor shaft by hand and measure tach output (AC voltage or pulses). Replace the drive motor if the tach is not functioning.
- Replace motor control: If the motor and wiring are good, the motor control or main control board may be faulty and require replacement.
