Possible Causes
Failed drive motor, Faulty motor control board (inverter), Loose or damaged motor harness, Worn motor brushes (on brush-type motors)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing the rear panel, motor, or control boards.
- Check for drum obstruction: Open the door and try to rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly. If it is seized or very stiff, there may be a mechanical jam (e.g., foreign object between drum and tub) that must be cleared before motor diagnosis.
- Inspect drive belt: Remove the rear panel. Verify the drive belt is on both the motor pulley and drum pulley. If the belt is broken or off, replace or reinstall it and test.
- Inspect wiring: Check the motor harness connector at the motor and at the motor control board (if separate from main control). Reseat connectors and look for burnt pins or damaged wires.
- Test motor: With a multimeter (and following the service manual), check motor windings for continuity. If open or shorted, the motor is defective.
- Replace failed component: If the motor tests good but E54 persists, the motor control board or main control board is likely faulty. Replace the suspect board only after verifying wiring and mechanical components.
