Possible Causes
Failed water NTC sensor, Failed dryer thermistor, Loose sensor wiring, Control board sensor circuit fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before accessing internal components.
- Determine when tE appears: If it appears during wash, suspect the water NTC. If during dry, suspect the dryer thermistor.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Locate the relevant sensor (water NTC on tub, thermistor on blower/exhaust) and check for loose or corroded connectors.
- Measure resistance: Use a multimeter to check sensor resistance at room temperature and compare to GE specifications. Replace if out of range.
- Replace faulty sensor: Install a new water temperature sensor or dryer thermistor as appropriate. Reassemble and test.
- Control board check: If sensors and wiring are good, the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
