Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Clogged drain hose, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Water may spill when opening the filter; keep towels and a shallow tray ready.
- Access pump filter: Open the lower front service flap. Place a tray under the filter cap. Slowly unscrew the filter to let water drain out in a controlled way.
- Clean filter: Remove lint, coins, buttons, and other debris from the filter and the pump cavity. Check that the pump impeller turns freely by hand.
- Check drain hose: Inspect the drain hose at the rear for kinks or blockages. Detach it from the standpipe or sink connection and flush it with water to clear any obstruction.
- Test pump operation: After cleaning, reassemble and run a drain or spin-only program. Listen for the pump running. If it hums but does not turn, or is silent, the pump may be defective.
- Replace drain pump: If the pump is receiving power (check with a multimeter) but not pumping, replace the drain pump assembly with the correct Grundig part. This usually requires removing the front lower panel or rear panel depending on model.
