Possible Causes

Blocked pressure chamber or pressure hose, Faulty water level pressure switch, Stuck water inlet valve, Control board sensing error

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and close the water taps. If the drum is overfilled, manually drain via the pump filter before tipping or moving the machine.

  • Inspect pressure hose: Remove the top cover. Locate the thin pressure hose running from the bottom of the tub or pressure chamber to the pressure switch. Check for kinks, splits, or blockages (detergent sludge).
  • Clean pressure chamber: Detach the hose at the tub end and blow through it to ensure it is clear. If blocked, clean the pressure chamber connection on the tub with warm water and a small brush.
  • Test pressure switch: With the hose removed, gently blow into the switch and listen for clicks. Use a multimeter to verify that the switch contacts change state when pressure is applied.
  • Check inlet valve: Ensure the water inlet valve fully closes when power is off. If water continues to flow into the drum with the machine unplugged, the valve is mechanically stuck and must be replaced.
  • Replace faulty components: Replace a defective pressure switch or inlet valve with Grundig-approved parts. If the pressure system and valve are good but E04 persists, the main control board may be at fault and should be checked by a professional.
