Possible Causes

Failed heating element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose or burnt heater wiring, Faulty main control board heater relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow any hot water to cool before working on the heater circuit.

  • Access heater: On most Grundig washer-dryer combos, the wash heater is located at the rear of the tub. Remove the rear panel to expose the heater terminals and NTC sensor.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the heater connectors and wiring harness for signs of burning, corrosion, or loose connections. Reseat all plugs firmly.
  • Test heater element: Use a multimeter set to resistance and measure across the heater terminals. A typical value is 20–30 Ω; an open circuit indicates a failed element.
  • Test NTC sensor: Measure resistance of the NTC at room temperature (usually 4–20 kΩ depending on type). If it reads open, shorted, or does not change with temperature, replace it.
  • Replace faulty parts: If the heater or NTC is defective, remove the retaining nut, gently pry out the heater from the tub, and install a new Grundig-compatible heater and/or NTC. Ensure the rubber gasket seats correctly to prevent leaks.
  • Control board check: If heater and NTC test good but E05 remains, the PCB heater relay or triac may be faulty. This repair is best handled by a qualified technician.
