Possible Causes
Worn carbon brushes (on brushed motors), Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Open or shorted motor windings, Defective motor control circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Be careful of sharp edges when accessing the motor.
- Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly without grinding or binding. Heavy resistance may indicate bearing or mechanical issues rather than an electrical motor fault.
- Access motor: Remove the rear panel. Locate the drive motor at the bottom of the tub. Disconnect the wiring plug.
- Inspect brushes (if fitted): On brushed motors, remove the brush holders and check the length of the carbon brushes. If they are worn to less than ~1 cm or uneven, replace both brushes with Grundig-compatible parts.
- Test windings and tacho: Use a multimeter to measure resistance of the motor windings and the tachometer coil. Compare with service data; open or shorted readings indicate a faulty motor.
- Check wiring to PCB: Inspect the harness from motor to main control board for damage or loose connectors.
- Replace components: Replace worn brushes or the complete motor if windings/tacho are defective. If the motor tests good but E06 persists, the motor control circuit on the PCB may need replacement.
