Possible Causes

Dirty or coated moisture sensor bars, Broken moisture sensor wiring, Faulty moisture sensor module, Control board sensor input fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance before cleaning internal sensor connections.

  • Locate moisture sensors: On many Grundig washer-dryer combos, the moisture sensor consists of two metal strips inside the drum (often near the door opening).
  • Clean sensor bars: Using a soft cloth and a mild non-abrasive cleaner or white vinegar, thoroughly clean the metal strips to remove detergent residue, fabric softener film, and limescale. Do not use steel wool.
  • Inspect wiring: From inside the front panel, trace the wires from the sensor bars to the control board or sensor module. Check for loose connectors or broken wires.
  • Test sensor circuit: Use a multimeter to verify continuity through the sensor circuit when bridging the bars with a damp cloth.
  • Replace sensor or module: If the sensor assembly is damaged or the module is not responding, replace with Grundig-approved parts. If wiring and sensor are good but E12 persists, the main PCB may require diagnosis.
