Possible Causes
Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain hose or sump hose, Defective drain pump motor, Foreign object in pump impeller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Water may spill when opening the filter—have towels and a shallow tray ready.
- Step 1 – Access and clean pump filter: Open the lower front service flap. Place a tray under the filter cap. Slowly unscrew the cap to let water drain. Remove the filter and clean out coins, lint, and debris. Check inside the pump housing for objects around the impeller.
- Step 2 – Check drain hose: Inspect the external drain hose for kinks or crushing behind the machine. Detach it from the standpipe or sink connection and flush it with water to ensure it is clear.
- Step 3 – Inspect sump hose: Remove the rear or bottom panel (depending on model) to access the large black sump hose between the tub and pump. Clamp it, remove the hose, and clear any socks or debris trapped in the ball trap or bend. Refit securely with clamps.
- Step 4 – Test pump operation: With the filter removed, gently spin the pump impeller with a finger; it should turn smoothly with slight resistance. If it is jammed, wobbly, or smells burnt, the pump is likely defective.
- Step 5 – Electrical check (advanced): With power disconnected, check the pump coil resistance with a multimeter (typically 150–300 Ω; refer to Hansa service data). An open circuit indicates a failed pump.
- Step 6 – Replace drain pump: If the pump is faulty, remove mounting screws, disconnect wiring, and install a new Hansa-compatible drain pump. Ensure all seals and clamps are tight to prevent leaks.
