Possible Causes

Failed wash heating element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose or burnt wiring at heater terminals, Defective main control relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool before working near the heater.

  • Step 1 – Access heater: On most Hansa washer-dryer combos, the wash heater is mounted at the rear of the tub and accessible from the back panel. Remove the rear cover to expose the heater terminals and NTC sensor.
  • Step 2 – Visual inspection: Check for signs of overheating, melted connectors, or limescale buildup around the heater seal. Ensure the NTC sensor is firmly seated.
  • Step 3 – Measure heater resistance: Disconnect the heater wires and measure resistance with a multimeter. Typical values are 20–30 Ω (consult Hansa specs). An open circuit or very low resistance indicates a faulty element.
  • Step 4 – Check NTC sensor: Disconnect the NTC and measure resistance at room temperature (often 20–30 kΩ). If it reads open, shorted, or does not change when warmed gently in your hand, replace the sensor.
  • Step 5 – Wiring and relay: Inspect the harness from heater and NTC to the PCB. Look for burnt spades or loose connectors. If wiring is intact and both heater and NTC test good, the heater relay on the control board may be defective.
  • Step 6 – Replace faulty parts: Replace the wash heating element and/or NTC sensor as needed, ensuring the rubber gasket is properly seated to prevent leaks. If the PCB is suspected, professional repair or replacement is recommended.
