Possible Causes
Worn carbon brushes on universal motor, Open or shorted motor windings, Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Defective motor control circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Moving parts can cause injury; never work with power applied.
- Step 1 – Check drum movement by hand: Rotate the drum manually. It should turn smoothly without grinding. If seized, the issue may be mechanical (bearing or foreign object) rather than motor electrical.
- Step 2 – Access motor: Remove the rear panel. Release the drive belt from the motor pulley and drum pulley. Inspect the belt for cracks or glazing; replace if worn.
- Step 3 – Inspect motor brushes (if fitted): On Hansa models with a brushed universal motor, remove the brush holders and check brush length. If brushes are shorter than ~1 cm or unevenly worn, replace both with correct Hansa-compatible brushes.
- Step 4 – Tachometer and wiring: Inspect the tachometer coil at the rear of the motor. Ensure its connector is firmly seated and the magnet is intact. Check the motor harness from motor to PCB for damage or loose plugs.
- Step 5 – Electrical tests: With the motor removed, measure winding resistance between pins according to service data. Infinite or very low resistance indicates a faulty motor. Also test the tachometer coil for continuity.
- Step 6 – PCB diagnosis: If motor, brushes, and wiring are good but E07 persists, the motor control triac or driver circuit on the main PCB may be defective. This typically requires board-level repair or replacement by a technician.
