Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Loose tachometer connector, Damaged motor harness, Defective motor control circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the rear of the appliance.
- Step 1 – Observe behavior: Start a spin-only program. If the drum starts to turn but then stops and E08 appears, the control is likely losing speed feedback.
- Step 2 – Access motor and tachometer: Remove the rear panel and belt. At the back of the motor, locate the tachometer coil (small round module). Check that it is firmly attached and not cracked.
- Step 3 – Check connections: Reseat the tachometer connector and inspect the wiring harness for chafing or broken conductors, especially where it passes near sharp edges.
- Step 4 – Test tachometer coil: Disconnect the tachometer and measure resistance with a multimeter. Typical values are a few hundred ohms (refer to Hansa data). An open circuit indicates a failed tachometer.
- Step 5 – Replace tachometer or motor: On some Hansa motors, the tachometer can be replaced separately; on others it is integrated and requires motor replacement. Install the correct part and refit the belt.
- Step 6 – PCB check: If a known-good tachometer and wiring are present but E08 persists, the speed sensing circuit on the PCB may be faulty. Professional board repair or replacement is advised.
