Possible Causes
Overheated door lock coil, Faulty door lock temperature sensor (if present), Poor ventilation around appliance, Defective main control logic
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool if it has been running a long drying cycle.
- Step 1 – Allow cooling: Leave the machine powered off for 30–60 minutes to allow the door lock and surrounding area to cool. Then reconnect power and see if E17 clears.
- Step 2 – Check installation: Ensure there is adequate ventilation space around the washer-dryer, especially if built into cabinetry. Follow Hansa's minimum clearance recommendations.
- Step 3 – Inspect door lock: Access the door lock and check for discoloration or melting. Replace the lock if it shows heat damage or if E17 recurs frequently.
- Step 4 – Control board: If the door lock is new and properly installed but E17 continues, the control board may be overdriving the lock coil or misreading its status. Professional PCB evaluation is recommended.
