Possible Causes
Blocked condensate drain hose, Clogged internal condensate pump, Faulty condensate pump motor, Kinked hose from condenser to sump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Water may be present inside the base or condenser area.
- Step 1 – Check standard drain: Ensure the main drain hose and pump filter are clear as per E03 steps. Sometimes E18 is triggered by general drainage problems.
- Step 2 – Access condensate circuit: Remove the front lower panel or rear panel to locate the small condensate pump and hoses (if fitted on your Hansa model).
- Step 3 – Clean hoses: Detach the thin hoses from the condenser to the pump and from the pump to the sump or drain. Flush them with water to remove lint and scale.
- Step 4 – Test condensate pump: Check the pump for obstructions and spin the impeller by hand. Measure coil resistance; an open circuit indicates a failed pump. Replace with a Hansa-compatible condensate pump if defective.
- Step 5 – Reassemble and test: After cleaning and replacing parts, run a drying cycle and monitor for proper water drainage and absence of E18.
