Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Clogged drain hose, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Water may spill when opening the filter; keep towels and a shallow tray ready.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Access the pump filter: Open the small service flap at the bottom front of the machine. Place a tray under the filter cap.
- 2. Drain residual water: If equipped, pull out the emergency drain hose and empty into a tray. Then slowly unscrew the pump filter cap to release remaining water.
- 3. Clean the filter: Remove lint, coins, buttons, and other debris from the filter and pump cavity. Check that the pump impeller spins freely with your finger.
- 4. Inspect the drain hose: Check the external drain hose for kinks or clogs. Detach from the standpipe or sink trap and flush with water to ensure it is clear.
- 5. Test the pump: With the machine unplugged and the lower front panel removed (if applicable), inspect the drain pump assembly wiring. Use a multimeter to check for continuity across the pump terminals. An open circuit or seized impeller indicates a failed pump that must be replaced.
- 6. Reassemble and test: Refit the filter, close the flap, reconnect hoses, and run a drain/spin program. If E03 persists with a clean filter and good hose, the pump or control board may require professional diagnosis.
