Possible Causes
Faulty dryer NTC temperature sensor, Loose wiring to dryer sensor, Shorted or open sensor circuit, Faulty main control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Locate dryer NTC: The dryer temperature sensor (NTC) is usually mounted on the dryer air duct or heater housing. Remove the top or rear panel to access it.
- 2. Inspect wiring: Check the connector and wiring harness from the NTC to the main PCB for damage, corrosion, or loose fit.
- 3. Test the NTC: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare with service data (commonly 10–30 kΩ). If it reads open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the sensor.
- 4. Check for moisture ingress: Ensure there are no signs of water leaks onto the sensor or wiring, which can cause intermittent faults.
- 5. Control board check: If a new NTC and good wiring do not clear E09, the main control board may not be reading the sensor correctly and may need replacement by a technician.
