Washer-dryer shows E11; door may not unlock at end of cycle

Safety first: Switch off and unplug the appliance. Do not force the door open with tools as this can damage the tub and seal.

Step-by-step checks:

• 1. Wait for safety delay: After the cycle ends, wait several minutes; some models delay unlocking while the drum is still spinning or water is hot.
• 2. Emergency release: Many Ikea/Whirlpool-based combos have an emergency door release near the pump filter behind the lower flap. Pull the colored tab or cord gently to mechanically unlock the door.
• 3. Inspect the door lock: Once open and unplugged, remove the door seal clamp and access the door lock assembly. Check for mechanical damage or signs of overheating.
• 4. Test the lock: Use a multimeter to test the lock coil and switch contacts. If the coil is open or the switch does not change state, replace the lock.
• 5. Control board: If a new lock does not resolve E11, the main PCB may not be driving the lock correctly and should be checked by a technician.
