Possible Causes

Failed NTC temperature sensor, Loose NTC wiring connector, Shorted or open NTC circuit, Damaged harness between NTC and main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the unit to cool before accessing the heater or duct area.

  • Locate NTC sensor: On Insignia combos, the NTC is typically mounted on the heater housing or exhaust duct. Remove the rear or side panel to access it.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the NTC connector and wiring harness for secure fit and damage. Reseat the connector.
  • Measure resistance: With the sensor disconnected, use a multimeter to measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to the service manual specification. An open circuit or zero ohms indicates a failed sensor.
  • Replace NTC: If readings are out of range, replace the NTC sensor with the correct Insignia part number. Ensure it is firmly attached to the duct or heater surface.
  • Test dry cycle: Reassemble panels, restore power, and run a timed dry cycle to confirm proper heating and that E10 does not reappear.
