Possible Causes
Failed wash tub NTC sensor, Loose NTC connector, Shorted or open NTC wiring, Main control misreading sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow any hot water to cool before accessing the tub area.
- Locate wash NTC: The wash temperature sensor is typically mounted in the outer tub wall. Access it from the rear or bottom of the machine.
- Inspect connector: Ensure the NTC plug is fully seated and free of corrosion or detergent residue.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature with a multimeter. Compare to Insignia specifications. Replace the sensor if readings are out of range or intermittent.
- Check wiring: Trace the harness from the NTC to the main board for damage or pinched sections. Repair or replace as needed.
- Control board: If the sensor and wiring are good but E17 persists, the main control board may be misreading the signal and require replacement.
