Possible Causes

Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain hose or standpipe, Failed drain pump motor, Foreign object lodged in pump impeller

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and keep towels or a shallow pan ready for water spillage.

  • Access and clean pump filter: On most Insignia combos, the drain pump filter is behind a small lower front access panel. Open the panel, place a pan under the filter cap, and slowly unscrew the cap to let water drain. Remove lint, coins, and debris from the filter and cavity.
  • Inspect pump impeller: With the filter removed, look inside at the plastic impeller. Ensure it spins freely and is not jammed by objects. Remove any obstruction carefully.
  • Check drain hose: Pull the unit forward and inspect the rear drain hose for kinks or clogs. Detach the hose from the standpipe and flush it with water to confirm it is clear.
  • Test pump operation: After reassembly, plug the unit in and run a drain/spin cycle. If you hear no pump noise or only a humming sound and no water movement, the drain pump motor is likely failed and should be replaced.
  • Verify standpipe height: Ensure the household drain standpipe is at the manufacturer-recommended height to prevent siphoning or backflow.
