Possible Causes
Loose or broken drive belt, Failed drive motor, Faulty motor control circuit on main PCB, Seized drum bearings causing overload
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing any panels. Do not bypass safety interlocks.
- Check for overloading: Remove excess laundry and redistribute the load, then try a spin cycle again to rule out simple overload.
- Inspect drive belt: Remove the rear panel. Verify the belt is on both the motor pulley and drum pulley. If the belt is broken, frayed, or loose, replace it with the correct Insignia belt.
- Spin drum by hand: With power off, rotate the drum manually. It should turn smoothly. Grinding, stiffness, or wobble suggests bearing issues that can overload the motor.
- Test motor connections: Check the wiring harness at the motor and main control board for loose plugs or burned connectors. Reseat all connectors firmly.
- Electrical testing: If you are qualified, use a multimeter to check motor windings for continuity and inspect the main PCB for obvious burn marks. Replace the drive motor or main control board if defective.
