Possible Causes

Failed heater element assembly, Open high-limit thermostat or thermal cutoff, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Wiring issue between heater and main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit. Heating components can retain heat; allow time to cool before touching.

  • Clean lint and airflow paths: Remove the lower front or rear panel (model dependent) and vacuum lint from the internal ducting, blower housing, and lint filter housing. Restricted airflow can cause overheating and trip safety devices.
  • Check lint filter: Remove and thoroughly clean the lint filter before every drying cycle.
  • Inspect heater assembly: Access the heater housing (usually at the rear or side). Look for broken coils or burn marks. If the element is visibly broken or tests open with a multimeter, replace the heater assembly.
  • Test thermostats and NTC: Use a multimeter to check continuity of the high-limit thermostat and thermal cutoff. Also measure resistance of the NTC temperature sensor and compare to service specs. Replace any open or out-of-range components.
  • Check wiring harness: Inspect connectors between the heater, thermostats, NTC, and main PCB for loose or burned terminals. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
