Possible Causes
Failed main control PCB, Loose wiring harness connectors, Power surge damage, Faulty user interface board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing electronic components. Static discharge can damage boards; use ESD precautions if available.
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for at least 5 minutes to discharge internal capacitors, then plug back in and attempt to start a cycle.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the top or rear panel to access the main control board. Check all harness connectors for secure fit and signs of heat damage or corrosion. Reseat each connector one at a time.
- Check for moisture: Look for signs of water intrusion around the control area. If moisture is present, dry the area thoroughly and identify the source of the leak (door seal, dispenser, or vent) for repair.
- Board inspection: Visually inspect the main PCB for burned components, cracked solder joints, or bulging capacitors. If damage is visible or E8 persists after reseating connectors, replace the main control board.
- User interface: If the display or buttons are erratic, inspect the user interface board and ribbon cable. Replace the interface board if it is unresponsive while the main board tests good.
