Possible Causes
Water remaining in drum, Faulty door lock mechanism, Control board not sending unlock signal, Broken door handle or latch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not force the door open with tools that can break the glass or damage the seal. Unplug the unit before manual release.
- Check for water: Look through the door glass. If water is visible, run a drain/spin cycle. If the machine will not drain, clean the pump filter and check the drain hose.
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for several minutes, then reconnect and see if the lock releases.
- Manual release: Many Insignia combos have a manual door lock release near the pump filter or behind the front panel. Pull the release tab or lever to open the door.
- Inspect door lock: Once open and power is off, access the door lock assembly and check for mechanical binding or burned contacts. Replace the door lock if defective.
