Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately stop the cycle, unplug the unit, and do not continue using it until the cause is found. Fire risk is present.
- Clean lint filter: Remove and thoroughly clean the lint screen before every load.
- Inspect exhaust vent: Disconnect the vent hose from the back of the combo and check for heavy lint buildup. Clean the hose and wall duct all the way to the outside.
- Clean internal lint: Remove rear panel and carefully vacuum lint from around the heater housing, blower wheel, and internal ducts.
- Check for scorched wiring: Inspect wiring near the heater and motor for burn marks. Replace any damaged components.
When to call a technician: If the smell persists or you see melted parts, have a professional inspect the heater, thermostats, and motor.
