Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and be prepared for water spillage when opening the pump area.
- Check drain hose: Inspect the rear drain hose for kinks, crushing, or being pushed too far into the standpipe. Correct any kinks and ensure the hose height and insertion depth follow the JennAir installation guide.
- Clean pump filter: Access the drain pump (usually behind a lower front panel or rear panel). Place towels and a shallow pan under the pump. Slowly unscrew the pump clean-out cap (if equipped) and allow water to drain. Remove lint, coins, buttons, and debris from the filter and pump cavity.
- Inspect pump impeller: With the filter removed, reach in and gently spin the impeller. It should turn freely and not be broken or jammed.
- Test drain function: Reassemble, restore power, and run a Drain/Spin or similar cycle. Listen for the pump running and check for strong water flow at the standpipe.
- Replace pump if needed: If the pump hums but does not move water, or is silent with correct voltage present (technician test), replace the drain pump assembly with the correct JennAir part.
When to call a technician: If F02 persists after cleaning and hose checks, or you are not comfortable accessing the pump, seek professional service.
