Possible Causes

Closed water valves, clogged inlet screens, faulty water inlet valve, defective flow meter (if equipped), kinked fill hoses

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and water before disconnecting hoses.

  • Confirm water supply: Make sure household water is on and pressure is adequate. Open both hot and cold valves fully.
  • Clean inlet screens: Disconnect hoses at the back of the unit and clean the inlet screens of sediment and debris.
  • Check hose routing: Ensure hoses are not kinked or pinched behind the appliance.
  • Test fill: Reconnect hoses, restore water and power, and start a cycle. Watch for water entering the drum within 30 seconds.
  • Replace inlet valve or flow meter: If no water enters and voltage is present at the valve (technician test), replace the water inlet valve. If equipped with a flow meter and the unit fills but still shows F20, the flow meter may be defective and should be replaced.

When to call a technician: If basic checks fail, a technician should verify valve voltage and flow meter signals.
