Safety first: Unplug the unit and prepare towels and a shallow pan for water drainage.

• Access pump filter: Remove the lower front access panel or rear panel to reach the drain pump. Slowly open the pump clean-out (if present) and drain water into a pan.
• Remove obstructions: Clear coins, lint, socks, and other debris from the filter and pump housing.
• Inspect impeller: Check that the impeller is intact and spins freely. Remove any tangled debris.
• Check drain hose: Inspect the entire length of the drain hose for kinks, clogs, or ice (in cold climates). Flush the hose if necessary.
• Test drain: Reassemble, restore power, and run a Drain/Spin cycle. If the pump hums but does not move water, or F21 returns, replace the drain pump assembly.

When to call a technician: If the pump and hose are clear but the unit still will not drain, wiring or control issues may require professional service.
