How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing any panels. Do not force the door closed with excessive pressure.
- 1. Check door closure:
- Ensure no clothing is trapped between the door gasket and the door.
- Close the door firmly until you hear a distinct click.
- Inspect the door gasket for foreign objects or damage that may prevent sealing.
- 2. Inspect door strike and latch:
- Examine the plastic door strike on the door; if cracked or loose, replace it.
- Check that the strike lines up with the door lock opening on the cabinet.
- 3. Reset power:
- Unplug the unit for 5 minutes to reset the control board, then plug back in and try again.
- 4. Check/replace door lock assembly:
- Unplug the unit.
- Remove the spring clamp holding the door gasket to the front panel and peel the gasket back near the lock.
- Remove the screws securing the LG door lock assembly and pull it out.
- Inspect the wiring harness for loose connections or damage.
- If the lock shows signs of burning, cracking, or intermittent operation, replace the door lock assembly.
- Call a technician if the error persists after replacing the lock, as the main PCB may be faulty.
