Possible Causes

Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked or kinked drain hose, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Water may spill when opening the filter—have towels and a shallow pan ready.

  • Access the pump filter: Open the lower front service flap (or kick panel) to reach the Midea drain pump filter cap.
  • Drain residual water: If equipped, use the small emergency drain hose to empty water into a pan. Otherwise, slowly loosen the filter cap to control the flow.
  • Clean the filter: Remove coins, lint, buttons, and other debris from the filter and pump cavity. Spin the impeller with your finger to ensure it turns freely.
  • Inspect the drain hose: Check the rear drain hose for kinks, clogs, or a frozen section (in cold climates). Ensure the standpipe height and installation follow the Midea manual.
  • Test operation: Refit the filter securely, restore power, and run a drain or spin-only cycle. If E2 persists and you hear no pump noise, the drain pump motor may need replacement.
