Possible Causes
Failed wash heater element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose wiring to heater, Faulty main control board heater relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and allow internal components to cool before touching.
- Confirm symptom: Run a hot wash cycle and check if the door glass warms up after 15–20 minutes. If not, heating is likely not occurring.
- Access heater: On many Midea combos, the wash heater is mounted at the rear of the drum. Remove the rear panel to locate the heater terminals and NTC sensor.
- Check wiring: Inspect connectors for burning, corrosion, or loose fit. Reseat any loose plugs.
- Test heater resistance: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the heater terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed heater element.
- Test NTC sensor: Measure resistance of the NTC; it should change smoothly with temperature (refer to service data if available). A shorted or open NTC will trigger E5.
- Replace faulty parts: If the heater or NTC is defective, replace with a compatible Midea heater assembly and sensor. If both test good, the main PCB heater relay may be faulty and should be serviced by a technician.
