Possible Causes
Worn carbon brushes on universal motor (if equipped), Faulty BLDC motor stator, Loose motor wiring harness, Defective motor control circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the machine before removing any panels. The motor area has sharp edges and heavy components.
- Listen for motor attempt: During wash or spin, note if you hear humming or clicking from the motor area. Total silence may indicate no power to the motor.
- Access the motor: Remove the rear panel. Locate the Midea drive motor at the bottom of the drum.
- Check belt (if belt-driven): Ensure the drive belt is intact and properly tensioned between the motor pulley and drum pulley.
- Inspect wiring: Verify the motor connector is fully seated and wires are not damaged or burned.
- Brush inspection (universal motor models): Remove the motor and check carbon brushes for length and wear. Replace if they are very short or uneven.
- Stator test (BLDC models): Check for obvious burn marks or broken windings. Use a multimeter to verify continuity between stator phases.
- If all hardware checks good: The motor drive circuit on the main control board may be defective and typically requires professional replacement.
