Possible Causes
Failed dryer NTC sensor, Loose or damaged wiring to dryer sensor, Lint buildup around dryer duct and sensor, Faulty main control board temperature circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before working near the heater or ducting.
- Access dryer duct: Remove the top cover and, if necessary, the rear panel to locate the dryer air duct and NTC sensor (often clipped into the duct).
- Clean lint and dust: Carefully vacuum lint from the duct, fan, and around the sensor. Excess lint can cause incorrect temperature readings.
- Inspect wiring: Check the NTC sensor connector and wiring harness for damage or loose fit.
- Test sensor: Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the NTC terminals. Compare to Midea specifications; resistance should change with temperature.
- Replace faulty NTC: If readings are out of range or open/shorted, replace the dryer temperature sensor. If the sensor is good but E8 persists, the control board may require professional diagnosis.
