How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer-dryer from the mains before removing any panels. Do not bypass the door lock for testing with the machine powered.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Inspect the door and latch: Open the door and check the metal/plastic latch hook on the door. If it is loose, bent, or cracked, the door may not engage the interlock. Replace the door latch hook if damaged.
- 2. Check for door closure issues: Ensure no clothing is trapped between the door seal and the door. Gently push the door firmly closed and try starting a cycle again.
- 3. Access the door lock (interlock): Remove the front retaining band from the door gasket and peel the gasket back slightly near the lock. Locate the door lock assembly fixed to the front panel.
- 4. Test the door lock: With power disconnected, unplug the wiring connector from the door lock. Use a multimeter to check continuity across the lock terminals when the door is closed (refer to a Neff/Bosch service diagram if available). If the lock is open-circuit or shows signs of burning, replace it.
- 5. Inspect wiring: Trace the harness from the door lock to the main control (power module). Look for broken conductors, chafed insulation, or loose connectors. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- 6. Control board check: If the door lock and wiring are good but E01 persists, the power module relay or triac that drives the lock may have failed. Visual signs include burn marks or swollen components. At this point, replacement of the power module or professional diagnosis is recommended.
When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable working around mains wiring or if a new door lock does not clear the error, contact a qualified Neff service technician.
