Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and turn off the water supply immediately if overfilling occurs.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Inspect the pressure hose: Remove the top cover. Locate the small rubber hose running from the bottom side of the tub to the pressure sensor. Remove the hose and blow through it to ensure it is clear. If blocked with detergent residue, rinse it thoroughly.
- 2. Clean the pressure chamber: At the tub end, the hose connects to a small chamber that can clog with soap scum. Carefully remove and clean this chamber if accessible.
- 3. Test the pressure sensor: With the hose removed, gently blow into the sensor while measuring continuity or resistance across its terminals (refer to a service manual). You should hear clicks and see changes in readings. If not, replace the sensor.
- 4. Check inlet valve operation: Turn the water back on with the machine unplugged. If water continues to flow into the drum, the inlet valve is mechanically stuck open and must be replaced.
- 5. Inspect wiring and control: If the sensor and valve are good, inspect the wiring harness to the control module. Look for corrosion or broken wires. A faulty control board may misread the level signal and require replacement.
When to call a technician: Overfill conditions can cause serious water damage. If you cannot quickly identify and correct the cause, contact a Neff technician.
