Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before accessing the rear panel or heater terminals.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Confirm symptom: Run a 60°C cotton program and check after 15–20 minutes if the door glass feels warm. If not, the heater circuit may be faulty.
- 2. Access the heater: Remove the rear panel. At the bottom of the tub you will see the heater flange with two power terminals and an earth connection.
- 3. Test heater resistance: Disconnect the heater wires and measure resistance across the two main terminals. Typical values are 20–30 Ω. An open circuit or a direct short to earth indicates a failed heater that must be replaced.
- 4. Check NTC sensor: Many Neff units have the NTC sensor integrated in the heater bracket. Measure its resistance at room temperature (usually 4–20 kΩ depending on model). If readings are far out of spec or do not change with temperature, replace the sensor.
- 5. Inspect wiring and connectors: Look for heat damage, loose spade connectors, or corrosion at the heater and NTC. Repair or replace as needed.
- 6. Control board relay: If heater and sensor test good but no voltage is supplied during heating, the power module heater relay or triac may be defective. This requires board repair or replacement by a professional.
When to call a technician: If you are not experienced with electrical testing or if the control board is suspected, contact a qualified technician.
