Possible Causes
Frequent low-temperature washes, Excess detergent use, Blocked drain causing stagnant water, Dirty door seal and detergent drawer
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use appropriate cleaning agents and follow label instructions. Do not mix bleach with other chemicals.
Step-by-step cleaning:
- 1. Run a maintenance wash: Run an empty 90°C cycle with a washing machine cleaner or a cup of white vinegar (if approved by Neff) to kill bacteria and dissolve residues.
- 2. Clean door seal: Wipe the gasket thoroughly with a cloth and mild detergent, paying attention to folds where sludge accumulates.
- 3. Clean detergent drawer: Remove the drawer and soak it in hot soapy water. Clean the housing with a brush to remove mould and residue.
- 4. Check drain and filter: Clean the pump filter and ensure no stagnant water remains.
- 5. Leave door ajar: After use, leave the door and drawer slightly open to allow drying and prevent odour build-up.
When to call a technician: If odours persist and you suspect a hidden leak or stagnant water in inaccessible areas, professional inspection may be needed.
