Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and turn off water supply. If the drum is overfilled, manually bail out water before tilting or moving the machine.
Step-by-step checks:
- Inspect the pressure hose: Remove the top cover. Locate the small rubber or plastic hose running from the bottom side of the tub to the pressure switch on the cabinet or frame. Check for kinks, splits, or disconnections.
- Clear blockages: Detach the hose from the tub and pressure switch. Blow through it to ensure it is clear. If blocked with soap scum, rinse with warm water and refit securely.
- Check the pressure chamber: At the tub end, inspect the pressure chamber connection for sludge buildup. Clean out any residue that could trap air.
- Test the pressure switch: With the machine unplugged, remove the switch and gently blow into the port while measuring continuity across its terminals. You should hear clicks and see changes in continuity. If not, replace the switch with a Stoves-compatible water level sensor.
- Check inlet valves for sticking: With water supply on and machine powered, observe whether water continues to flow into the drum when the machine is off. If so, the inlet valve is mechanically stuck open and must be replaced.
If E04 persists after these checks, the main control board may be misreading the level signal and should be evaluated by a technician.
