Possible Causes
Shorted or open door lock solenoid, Damaged wiring harness to door lock, Faulty door lock position switch, Defective main control board door lock driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. If the door is locked with water inside, drain via the drain filter before attempting to open.
- Step 1 – Emergency door release: Many Vedette combos have a manual release near the drain filter. Open the lower flap, locate the pull cord or lever, and gently pull to unlock the door.
- Step 2 – Inspect door lock: Remove the door gasket clamp and pull back the gasket to access the lock. Check for burnt smell or damage. Reseat the wiring connector.
- Step 3 – Test lock (advanced): With a multimeter, check continuity of the lock coil and position switch. Compare to service specs.
- Step 4 – Replace door lock: If readings are out of range or the lock is physically damaged, install a new Vedette-compatible door lock assembly. Ensure the latch engages smoothly.
- Step 5 – Control board: If a new lock does not resolve E16, the control board driver circuit may be faulty and should be replaced by a technician.
