Possible Causes
Laundry bunched on one side of drum, Single heavy item causing imbalance, Worn suspension shock absorbers, Weak or broken tub springs
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep hands clear of the drum while it is moving. Unplug the washer before inspecting internal components.
- 1. Redistribute the load: Open the door when safe, remove some items, and separate tangled garments. Mix large and small items to improve balance. Restart the spin cycle.
- 2. Avoid single heavy items: Do not wash one large blanket or mat alone. Add a few towels to balance the weight.
- 3. Level the washer: Use a spirit level on top of the machine. Adjust the front and rear leveling feet so the washer is stable and does not rock. Lock the feet in place.
- 4. Inspect suspension (advanced): Unplug the washer and remove the rear or front panel as needed. Check the shock absorbers attached to the tub for oil leakage, broken mounts, or excessive play. Replace worn shocks in pairs. Inspect tub suspension springs at the top for stretching or breakage.
- 5. Test spin again: After adjustments, run a spin-only cycle with a medium, well-distributed load. If E4 persists with normal loads, suspension components likely need replacement.
