Washer displays E40 and will not start, often accompanied by beeping and door symbol

Safety first: Do not force the door closed if something is obstructing it.

• 1. Remove obstructions: Check the door gasket and opening for clothing or objects preventing full closure.
• 2. Close door firmly: Push at the handle area until a click is heard. Try starting a cycle again.
• 3. Inspect latch and hinge: Look for visible damage to the door latch hook or sagging door. Tighten hinge screws and replace damaged latch parts.
• 4. Door lock assembly: If E40 persists, the door lock assembly may not be sending the closed signal. Replacement is usually required.
