Possible Causes
Defective door lock assembly, Misaligned door latch hook, Broken door handle mechanism, Faulty wiring between door lock and main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before removing the door lock or front panel. Do not force the door open with tools that can damage the seal or glass.
- 1. Check for obstructions: Inspect the door area for clothing caught between the door and gasket that may prevent proper locking.
- 2. Close door firmly: Push the door closed until you hear a solid click. If the latch feels loose or does not engage, the door latch/handle assembly may be worn.
- 3. Power reset: Unplug the washer for 5 minutes, then plug back in and try to start a cycle. Sometimes the lock can reset.
- 4. Inspect door lock (advanced): Remove the door gasket retaining band at the front and peel back the gasket to access the door lock assembly. Check the connector for looseness or corrosion. Reseat the plug.
- 5. Replace door lock if faulty: If the lock coil is open (technician test) or the lock does not engage even though the control sends power, replace the door lock assembly with a compatible Casarte part.
- 6. Check door alignment: If the door sags and does not meet the lock properly, tighten or adjust the door hinge screws.
